More about RoBoB
RoBoB is the artistic project of Bob De Merlier, born from a search for new possibilities for discarded objects and technology. What began with the transformation of old massage devices into autonomous drawing machines has evolved into an ongoing dialogue between human and machine. Through drawings, performances, and workshops, RoBoB explores the space between control and chance, human vulnerability and mechanical precision. Each work invites reflection on collaboration, autonomy, and the ever-changing relationship between people, technology, and creativity.

Workshops with RoBoB
The RoBoB workshops invite participants to enter into a dialogue with the relationship between human and machine. Together with RoBoB, each participant creates a unique artwork, freely choosing how much control to take and how much room to leave for the robot’s unexpected gestures. The workshops are welcoming and accessible, including for people with disabilities. In this way, the creative process becomes a shared experience centered on collaboration, curiosity, and play.
Gentse Feesten with Nerdlab
This summer, together with Nerdlab and Batatron, RoBoB is hosting interactive workshops during the Gentse Feesten, where visitors can create their own artworks with the drawing robot. An invitation to discover, through play and experimentation, how humans and machines can create unique works of art together.
